Lincomycin Hydrochloride is used for the treatment of sensitive Gram-positive bacteria. Used especially for treating infectious diseases that are resistant to penicillin and sensitive to this product. Such as swine dysentery, enzootic pneumonia, arthritis, swine erysipelas, red, yellow and white scour of piglets. In addition, it has antipyretic effects in pigs.
Lincomycin is a bacteriostatic narrow spectrum antibiotic of the lincosamide group,that is used in infections caused by anaerobic bacteria and by sensitive Gram positive aerobic bacteria,especially staphylococcus spp and streptococcus spp. Lincomycin is used in the treatment of osteomyelitis because of its excellent penetration into bone tissues.
Intramuscular: per kg B. W. cattle horse 0.05 - 0.1 ml, swine sheep 0.2 ml, dog cat 0.2 ml once a day, serious illness continue for 2 - 3 days.
Intravenous: per kg B.W. livestock 0.05 ml- 0.1 ml , diluted with injection water or glucose water (Intravenous, 1:2 - 3 / drip, 1:10 - 15) and control dosage speed.
A contra-indication to the use of lincomycin is the occasional case of hypersensitivity to lincomycin. Serious gastrointestinal disturbances can occur following the oral administration of lincomycin to rabbits, hamsters, guinea-pigs and ruminants. Lincomycin must not be given to horses, as serious and even fatal colitis can be caused.
